Charity concerts

January 3rd, 2012

As per bible, charity is one of the greatest virtue and the ones who do not exercise charity is not really closer to God. But is charity just for the people who receive help or does it also benefit the ones who are giving out as well? The answer to this question is both yes and no, because you do not receive anything visible when you are generous to somebody but you do receive a feeling of being good. This feeling of being good can do wonders for you. It can greatly help with your self esteem and can also build your self confidence.

Recently when I was on vacation with my wife in Romania, I happened to be in a concert in a city called Cluj. The concert was called Grace and was aimed at raising funds for the helpless orphans. One of the best parts about the concert was that the performers were absolutely professional and were performing with all their heart. The reason why I mention this is that, many times when you do something for which you know that you are not going to get paid for, it becomes slightly difficult to give out your best, especially when you are under a tiring schedule of travelling all over Europe within just two months time. The moment you finish the second concert, you would feel the heaviness of the work involved and many times the generous mind goes out of the window.

After the concert I bought quite a few of their CDs. I bought many of them twice or thrice, simply because I knew that the money they get is going to benefit some child. Some of these CDs lie unopened in my storage lockers. But even though I spent some extra money I still feel that these young guys and girls performing out there have a very generous heart not just for what they do on the stage but also for the commitment they show behind the stage.
