Have A Go, Why Not?

Are you a woman who has been promising her man, family or partner that she is going to get rid of all that Christmas-induced weight gain in the very near future? Then look no further than http://www.raceforlife.org/

Race for life is great. The biggest women-only fund-raising organizers in the entire country, they regularly put on races in aid of raising money for Cancer research. Not just a few, either, but a race in most counties in the UK. Go on, visit the link and consider joining in – it’s for a very good cause, and it might just help someone you know in the near future.

You have to hand it to the organizers: they are doing a sterling job of both promoting and running these races (and doing so using the internet too; I recently received a whole load of spam mail, one of which said something about an Enigin Scam, and they even managed to make theirs stand out and grab my attention: no mean feat in today’s climate of mad amounts of Spam). Each and every race that takes place is another step in the right direction and every time, large amounts of money are raised through donations. The best part of all this is that it’s actually FUN and you can do it with your friends, too. All this means that unfortunately, unless you’ve recently broken your leg, you don’t have many excuses left why you can’t take part. Consider it, go on, because there really is no reason not to, and it’s not as if you will be alone. In fact, more and more people are joining up in every part of the country every day, making Race for life a force to be reckoned with when it comes to charity fund-raising with a difference.

Charity for animals

Charity for animals

Charity for animals

There are many organisations that take care of mistreated animals and would need a helping hand. Being a source of charity to these organisations is the best way of taking care of animals. These organisations not only take care of the animals that need immediate help but they also fight against the animal mistreating practices. A lot of these are needed, as there are many species that are on the verge of extinction. You would see a lot of advertisements for this generous cause online and through Television adverts.

One of my friend recently told me about an organisation that was helping turtles. And they had a seminar cum fundraising for what they are doing. He invited me for the seminar and reluctantly I agreed to him. Personally I am not a big fan of sea turtles simply because I had not seen one yet. When we reached there, they had actually brought in some turtles for display. To surprise these were very cute ones. The only information I had about turtles was that they lost the great race to the rabbits. And since then I liked only rabbits.

A lot of information was provided on sea turtles, and some other animals also. I actually felt very emotional looking at the plight that we humans have brought upon our fellow creatures. True that we humans are also faced by many problems, but they were not created by the turtles or by any another animals. They were created by us. So it would only make good sense if we looked after them as much as we can. Moreover, there are many animals out there who are nature’s agents of balancing the environment ( like they would be nature’s Enigin ) which is the very reason for life on earth. Well I had made my choice and signed up for a membership for this very noble cause. Now I am officially a sea turtle friend

Charity Review: Prospects

Charity Review: Prospects

Charity Review: Prospects

Similar to how many of us benefit from the Enigin services so to do many from charities nationwide. One of the more popular charities around is Prospects. “Prospects” is a well established charitable Christian organisation that strives to stand beside mentally challenged people. They mainly focus on those people who due to some intellectual impairment or an incomplete development of their minds are unable to communicate like the rest of us. Creation of “Prospects” in 1976 was the noble initiative taken by David and Madeleine Potter to help the disabled people reach their full potential. Their main aim is to empower the people and assist them in leading a self-fulfilling life.

Although, there are no accurate records, the number of moderate to profoundly disabled people ranges somewhere from 600,000 to 1,200,000, in the United Kingdom alone. This means that “Prospects” has an even bigger responsibility to continue their humanitarian efforts towards this particular group of people. Their services are based on Christian ethos, which emphasizes on supporting challenged individuals with guidance to live a positive healthy lifestyle. “Prospects” helps such individuals with personal supervision and oversees that they are rights and freedom that they deserve.

From a humble beginning nearly 40 years ago, “Prospects” has now managed to provide their services through more than 60 locations spread across the United Kingdom, Wales as well as Northern Ireland. Their services are provided in three ways; firstly, they can either provide support through their living projects. Secondly, they can provide services to people residing in small residential homes or they can also help an individual in their own homes. The creation of successful partnerships with the local authorities, trusts, housing association and local churches has further strengthened “Prospects” ability to help the adults with learning disabilities to live a more fulfilling life.

The Royal Wedding and Charity

We know that we are not obliged to give out in charity but we still do. With the financial crisis around us it becomes even more important for us to support non profit organisations, as the number of people who would be supporting financially are rapidly going down. If in case it’s highly impossible for you to support financially then you may could also volunteer to complete some of the daily chores in a charitable organisation, as these organisations would find it difficult to keep their salaried staff members. As a matter of fact, I am sure you might have a lot of innovative ideas to support the needy without pulling out to much finances. But whatever help, may it be financial or voluntary service, both are crucial in these times.

Now the Royal wedding is getting more and more attractive after the news flash Prince Williams and Kate Middleton considering of swapping wedding gifts for charity donations. How wonderful would that be? That for sure is going to have a huge impact and is certainly better than gifting someone with an ortak jewellery set. This is not only going to help the non profits financially, but will also set up an example for our country.

I think this charity for sure is something that will invoke the heartiest blessings of the lives that will be touched through this. And if Prince Williams’ mother, Princess Diana would have witnessed this, she would have certainly given thumbs up to her son. Giving is good and anyone who wants to give is certainly a great human being. With the kind of tests a modern couple faces in marriage today, I would say blessings for a joyful family life would be far greater than any kind of material gift.

Hiking Tips

Hiking Tips

If you are one of the thousands of generous hearted people donning their hiking boots and taking off to a far away land for charity then this article may help prepare you for the trek ahead. Charities are great for motivating people to think altruistically by organizing hikes, bike runs, swimming expeditions or even comic days with the objective being two fold; push ourselves to the limits and raise money to help those who are vulnerable. Planning such events takes a lot of time and effort and participating takes dedication and personal preparation. The end result makes it all worthwhile as you witness many lives benefiting from your hard work.
Should you be participating in a mountain hike then here are a few ‘must have’s’ to make your adventure a little more comfortable. First of all, make sure that your health supplies are at an optimum. A good first aid kit doesn’t need to be huge and any outdoor store will be able to let you know of the essentials. Next up, footwear. Make sure your hiking boots are slightly larger than you would normally wear. This is because your feet will swell up as you walk for miles. Investing in good quality socks are important also, these can be purchased from any good outdoor store. Make sure you stock up on socks as anyone who has hiked for a good cause will testify that everyone complains that they did not take enough socks. Next up are your upper body garments. A good water proof jacket should be light and easily folded to a small size. Your warmer gear should be layers rather than bulk. Good pair of trousers are ones which can be unzipped at the knees to make shorts. They don’t have to be fancy but try getting some that have quite a few pockets for you to keep things at easy reach for you.

Charities and the Credit Crunch

With our current climate, then it is little wonder that our charities are suffering. Local councils have received instruction from the government to cut spending and re-analyse their spending due to the credit crunch. This has meant that many charitable services have been hit with a reduced budget from their authorities. This means that many services need to close or drastically reduce their expenditure, because there is not enough money coming in to maintain the service. In fact, many services are running on minimum cost already so it is very difficult for them to reduce even further while keeping a service’s quality running at an optimum. This quality is important because each charity is monitored by their local council. This means that the problem is twofold. First, the council have slashed budgets. Second, the council monitor quality and demand that the quality remains the same even with a slashed budget. Of course, charities do their very best to maintain a high standard of service because the people who use them are at the most vulnerable side of the social sphere. It is a very tough time for charities just now which is why we should always try to support them. Budgets need to be re assessed even down to purchasing paper towels which is why charities need our help.

By purchasing clothes, footwear or bric and brac items from a charities second hand shop will help bring in money for the charities larger work. Each charity is specialised for a vulnerable area of the social group, so why not pick one and gift a loved one with a sponsor membership. These make great presents and will go a long way to support charities during these hard times. Another way that charities are managing to survive is by joining forces. There are many charities out there that have joined in partnership and work towards their goals using shared budgets. Charities have always been smart with making their charity work under minimal expenditure but during these times it is even more crucial that they stay on top of everything and work together.
